Medical insurance for foreigners

The insurance company code is 111. The company serves more than 6.5 million clients and is an active member of the Czech Insurance Association (ČAP).

In addition to insuring foreigners, PVZP offers car, property, life and liability insurance. A policy can be taken out and managed online — via the pvzp.cz website and the app.

The range for foreigners: Nutná a neodkladná péče, Komplexní, PLUS and EXCLUSIVE. The EXCLUSIVE tariff provides coverage comparable to Czech state insurance, with a limit of 10 000 000 Kč per claim.

It covers outpatient and inpatient treatment, diagnostics, hospitalisation, surgery and post-operative care, prescription medicines, transport and rehabilitation, emergency dentistry, vaccination, childbirth and postnatal monitoring, treatment of chronic conditions and emergency psychiatric care.

Coverage similar to public insurance, special discounts for students and round-the-clock assistance. The additional "Nadstandard" package (limit 3 600 Kč) reimburses over-the-counter medicines, light orthoses, hormonal contraception, glasses and hearing aids, and dental hygiene.

Over more than 150 years, Slavia has established itself as a reliable universal insurer under the supervision of the Czech National Bank (ČNB).

In 2019 the company's turnover exceeded 1 billion Kč, confirming its financial stability. Besides medical insurance for foreigners, Slavia offers car insurance, travel insurance and property insurance.

Comprehensive medical insurance for foreigners covers hospitalisation and preventive care, acute cases and rescue services, emergency dentistry (up to 6 000 Kč), medicines and medical equipment prescribed by a doctor, as well as costs related to COVID-19.

The reimbursement limits are 10 000 000 Kč (400 000 €) in the Czech Republic and 2 000 000 Kč (80 000 €) in the Schengen area. No prior medical examination is required, and the insurance is valid in the Czech Republic and throughout the Schengen area.

For foreigners — emergency care (Nutná a neodkladná péče) and comprehensive insurance (Komplexní zdravotní pojištění cizinců). The STANDARD tariff: a limit of 10 000 000 Kč, valid in the Czech Republic + emergency care in the Schengen area.

Coverage includes emergency dentistry up to 5 000 Kč, outpatient medicines up to 5 000 Kč, repatriation and transport. A separate MATKA tariff for pregnant women adds postnatal care for the newborn up to 300 000 Kč.

Assistance with Russian-speaking operators — +420 272 099 911. In the event of a claim, the operator will recommend a clinic and send it a garance plnění so that you don't have to pay for the visit out of your own pocket.

The special extended coverage applies to insurance contracts concluded from July 1 to September 30, 2026 under the «Student» tariff for a term of at least 12 months. As part of the promotion, the insurer will reimburse expenses that are normally not included in the standard insurance coverage.

These include:

• Medicines prescribed by a doctor and not covered by public health insurance.
• Medical devices and aids prescribed by a doctor and not covered by public health insurance.
• Professional dental hygiene.
• Glasses and contact lenses.
• Vaccination beyond the scope of the basic insurance coverage.
• Antibody tests beyond the scope of the basic insurance coverage.
• Psychological help.

The bonus does not apply to coverage of illnesses and conditions that existed before the conclusion of the insurance contract (pre-existing conditions).

The company operates in Central and Eastern Europe, has more than 450 employees, and its insurance premiums exceed 160 million €.

It holds licences for 17 of 18 classes of non-life insurance and can operate in all EU countries (Freedom of Services). In November 2017 the agency A.M. Best assigned Colonnade an A- (Excellent) rating.

Comprehensive insurance for foreigners in two versions. STANDARD: treatment and transport up to 10 000 000 Kč (min. 400 000 €), emergency dentistry 20 000 Kč/year, prescription medicines 20 000 Kč/year, a preventive check-up once a year.

PREMIUM: treatment limit 25 000 000 Kč, dentistry and medicines at 25 000 Kč/year each, a preventive check-up twice a year. Coverage can be extended to the Schengen area.

The assistance service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in Czech and English, with interpreting into Ukrainian, Russian and Vietnamese.
