The first payment is due within 5 days of signing the agreement and secures your place in the programme.

We help with the long-term study visa (type D) — the main visa type for international applicants coming to Czechia for a language programme or university studies. It is usually issued for 1 year and can be extended in Czechia (that is handled by the After Smart programme).
The full cycle takes 3–5 months from signing the agreement. It includes: document collection and translation (1–2 months), waiting for a free consulate date (subject to availability) and the consulate review (up to 90 days by regulation, usually faster in practice). That is why you should start preparing at least six months before the planned move.
According to our internal statistics since 2016, 97 out of 100 students who completed Before Smart received their long-term visa on the first try. The remaining refusals are usually linked to serious force-majeure issues — problems with proof of funds, a failed interview due to unresolved personal circumstances, etc. In most cases a repeat application (with our support) succeeds.
The standard package: passport, photographs, study programme enrolment confirmation (we provide it from the school), accommodation confirmation in the Czech Republic (we help you book it), 12-month medical insurance (we help you get it at a discount), proof of funds (a bank statement with €5,500 on the account), criminal record certificate with apostille, and the visa application form. All documents must be translated into Czech by a court translator — that's also on us.
This is a consulate requirement to prove you have funds to live in the Czech Republic. The amount is roughly €5,500–6,000 (137,500–150,000 Kč), equivalent to a student's annual subsistence minimum. The money stays with you — it is not a programme expense but a balance on your account that you show the consulate. After the move you use it for housing, food and monthly costs.
Legally, the decision is made by the consulate of the Czech Republic, and no school can guarantee it — that would be unlawful. What we do guarantee: a 100% correctly prepared document package, a check of every paper before submission and a rehearsal of the interview answers. That is what delivers the 98.5% result — the visa is approved almost every time.
Technically possible under favourable conditions (free consulate slots, fast document collection). Realistically it is very tight. We typically recommend at least 3 months. If your situation is urgent, write to us — we will review it personally and give you an honest assessment of fitting your timeline.
Even before departure we help with the move plan: which documents to bring, how to buy tickets, what to pack. On arrival we meet you at the airport, take you to your accommodation, hand over a Czech SIM card and help you settle in. From there we pass you on to the After Smart programme (if enrolled) or to the Smart Light language course.
